KIRA 2012 - Calling for New Brunswicks Best and Brightest in the Knowledge Industry (Article)

Fredericton (February 16, 2012) -- It is time to celebrate New Brunswick’s best in the knowledge industry with the Call for Nominations for the 14th annual KIRA Awards. Known as ‘the’ gala evening for New Brunswick’s knowledge industry, KIRA 2012 is expected to attract well over 450 knowledge industry professionals from around and outside the province.

This year, KIRA will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at the Fredericton Convention Centre in the heart of Fredericton. KIRA 2012 will honour excellence in New Brunswick’s knowledge industry by recognizing companies and individuals. Hosted by Enterprise Fredericton, KIRA is a province-wide event with six awards in the following categories:
- Export - Product(s) and/or Service(s)
- Most Promising Start-Up
- Special Recognition
- Community Engagement and Industry Commitment
- Technological Advancement and/or Innovation (private)
- Technological Advancement and/or Innovation (public)

Call for nominations opens today and closes Friday, March 23, 2012. New Brunswick companies and individuals are encouraged to self nominate or have someone else nominate them or their company.

“KIRA 2012 will be another great year for the Knowledge Industry in our province” said KIRA 2012 Co-Chair, Alan Gray. “We have changed the category structure again this year to be more relevant to the changing IT industry, in our second year hosting the event at the Fredericton Convention Centre, the flow of the evening will be much more dynamic yet again. Prepare to be wowed at this year’s event!”

“In New Brunswick, we have lots of amazing work being developed privately and collaboratively that we should be very proud of” said KIRA 2012 Co-Chair, Colleen Benson. “The KIRA Awards give New Brunswick’s knowledge industry the opportunity to profile companies and individuals leading the way in entrepreneurship and innovation for our province.”

Now in its 14th year, the KIRA Awards Gala remains a sold out event attended by a provincial and international audience. KIRA recipients have proven that they are leaders in their fields and their work is making a difference in New Brunswick and around the world.
